Project Summary:

Audubon Companies conducted a comprehensive conceptual and front-end engineering design (FEED) study for a natural gas synthesis plant in the Northeast United States. The large-scale facility processes natural gas to produce blue ammonia and blue urea. The carbon dioxide (CO2) by-product was captured and sequestered (415,000 MTPA) into a geological formation. The facility included natural gas treating, syngas production, air separation, CO2 compression, ammonia production (5 MMTPA), and urea production (7.5 MMTPA). The process heat integration and power demand for the facility were balanced using a gas turbine with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system. The overall purpose of the facility is to process a natural gas flare stream to lower carbon emissions and help supply the world’s increasing demand for energy through reliable and sustainable methods.
